Transportation Information | Taipei city is served by two airports: Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and Taipei Songshan Airport. Direct flights from more than 160 destinations worldwide arrive at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, which is connected by the dedicated metro system to downtown Taipei. Taipei Songshan Airport is situated at the heart of the city, serves regular flights from and to Japan, South Korea and China’s major cities. Once arrived, visitors can connect with Taipei’s own metro system directly from the airport. |
Transportation from the Airport | A. From Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Taoyuan Metro can reach downtown Taipei within 38 minutes. Airport buses take visitors to downtown Taipei in about an hour. Taxi and car hire service are also available. B. From Taipei Songshan Airport Taipei MRT can reach downtown Taipei Taxi, car hire and bus service are available. |
Currency | The official currency in Taiwan is New Taiwan Dollars (NTD). The US dollars and Euros can be exchanged into TWD in the local banks. If you are traveling from overseas, having some USD or Euro cash to exchange to TWD is advised. The banks can be located at the airports and downtown Taipei. |

Visa-exempt | Foreign attendees entering Taiwan visa-free must hold passports with a remaining validity of at least six months and a return or onward air ticket and a valid visa for the next destination. The maximum period of stay in Taiwan for foreigners who enter visa-free is 14, 30 or 90 days, upon the expiration of which period they must depart. Visa Application | Foreign nationals, who hold ordinary passports or other legal travel documents and who intend to stay in Taiwan for no more than six months for the purposes of transit; tour; visit relatives; undertake visits; undertake inspection tours; attend international conferences; conduct business; pursue short-term study; undertake short-term employment; undertake short-term missionary work; and engage in other activities in the ROC as approved by Ministry of Foreign Affairs. e-Visa Support | To apply for e-Visa, check if you are the citizen of eligible countries from the countries on the eVisa website: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw/BOCA_EVISA/MRV04FORM.do You may directly apply for the eVisa. For citizen from countries that are not included in the Visa-exempt program and eVisa program, the APrIGF host will provide a courtesy Ecode for the participant to apply for eVisa. Please register for the APriGF event when the registration is open. After you completed the registration, send a request to [email protected] with subject “eVisa Request”. The final time for eVisa request is July 29. While applying e-Visa with Ecode, you will need to provide relevant personal information and pay the required fee by credit card online. There will be 2 batches for the eVisa application, the first batch will process requests before July 15, and the second batch will process requests from July 16 to July 29. No further requests will be processed after July 29. |
